Runway Tulsa 2017

September 27-30, 2017  Runway Tulsa returned in 2017 with a grander and expanded production over four fabulously fashionable nights of runway shows and soirees.  Presenting sponsor Lexus of Tulsa kicked off the week with a VIP invitation-only gala their beautiful showroom.  The always fashionable Utica Square then hosted Fashion in the Square before the final two nights of grand runway shows at the Cox Assembly Hall.  The Friday night event benefited Martha's Foundation and featured local boutique fashions and emerging designers.  The Saturday Runway Finale featured national designers from Miami, Portland, Denver and Dallas plus two amazing local designers.  The after party was held at Agora Event Center on their deck with a beautiful view of downtown Tulsa.   SRO Productions with a dedicated staff produced the shows, handled all marketing, media, ticket sales, and event planning.  Plans for 2018 are in the works.  Runway Tulsa is the awareness event of the Oklahoma Fashion Initiative (OFI) which has as a larger mission to bring new industry to Oklahoma thru manufacturing backed with strong educational programs.

Partying at the highest levels

February 25, 2017   From high above Park City, UT (home of the Sundance Film Festival) in the luxurious Montage Ski Resort, a man turned 60.  His wife wanted to give him a big surprise and she did.  Friends and family from all over flew in for a big party in the Montage Ballroom.  The biggest surprise was the band that would come on stage at the end of a wonderful video presentation that documented many of his life's highlights.  Turns out his all-time favorite band was a blues band from Maryland that he had enjoyed many times in the past.  When the Nighthawks were introduced and walked in to the room the look on his face said it all.  It could have been any major band of the world, but the reaction couldn't have been greater.  Personalizing an event only takes a degree of creativity and thought.  This one nailed it.  SRO provided the arrangements for sound, lights, backline and stage management to work with the event planner for final execution of a very successful surprise in the mountains.

A very private event in Barcelona, Spain

July 9, 2017  Event production can certainly take many forms yet the same attention to details applies no matter the audience size.  SRO was approached to produce a one-person show for an audience of 18.  The order was simple enough.  Provide a keyboard and setting where people could fly in from around he world and listen to two songs and a few words of encouragement.  Making it very tantalizing was the final choice of venue and act.  The show would be in Barcelona, Spain and the act would be six time Grammy nominated singer / songwriter / actor Sarah Bareilles.  The buyer wished to inspire a young person who he had helped thru schooling and wished to use this as a send-off to her future.  So in a luxury hotel meeting room overlooking the Mediterranean, this invitation-only group was treated to two of Sarah's greatest hits ("Love Song" and "Brave").

Runway Tulsa 2016 Announces Dates and Events

Tulsa World, 5/1:

Tulsa has style, and Runway Tulsa will showcase that with a week of fashion events this fall.

“You’ve gotta have that to begin with,” said Jon Terry, president of SRO Productions and co-producer of the event. “Tulsa is known for its sense of style.”

Shows and entertainment during Runway Tulsa 2016 are in the works and dates are set. The dates of Sept. 14-18  will include two lavish runway shows, tea room showings, trunk shows, retail events and a grand kick-off soiree in the elegant showroom of presenting sponsor Lexus of Tulsa.

The featured runway events will give the best area designers the opportunity to show their collections. It will also be a chance for Tulsa audiences to see designers who have dazzled fashion runways worldwide, including L.A. designer Alexis Monsanto who provides fashion commentary for Hollywood red carpet events.

“His presentations are exactly what we wish our shows to provide to the audiences. He is as much showman as he is designer, and the excitement he brings to the runway audiences is what we want every show to be known for,” Terry said.

The ultimate mission of Runway Tulsa is the development of new industry for Tulsa and creating awareness of the city in the global fashion community. Runway Tulsa is committed to establishing stepping stones to success for student designers to go from classroom to showroom. State fashion schools and Tulsa’s Clary Sage will take part in the fifth-annual Student Fashion Show on Friday night during the week.

The show is seeking designers for the 2016 show and will be seeking models leading up to the event. The deadline for designer applications is May 30 and are available online at www.runwaytulsa.com.

“There is wonderful talent here, and we are reaching out to that again. We want Tulsa designers walking and showing their collections on our stages because it’s the best showcase for their products,” Terry said. “In this industry, you have to be bold. If you feel like you have something to show but aren’t quite ready yet, we may be able to help.”

After last year’s show ended, Terry said many people showed an interest in getting involved in the show, from fashionistas to businesses.

“The show has something great to offer. It brought people together who may not have known that each other existed,” he said

SRO Productions is promoting the event, and Terry and his daughter, Tina Terry, are co-producers of Fashion Week-Tulsa. Lexus of Tulsa is the presenting sponsor, and other sponsors include the Tulsa World, ExcellStyle, and Arts Society.

Utica Square is set to host Fashion in the Square on Sept. 15, which will include a garden fashion show, boutique parties, daytime Tea Room fashion shows in select restaurants, a dog fashion parade, music and more.

SRO announces signing of V2 - the evolution of The Ventures.

With great pride, SRO Productions announces the agreement between the band V2 and SRO for exclusive booking services.  V2 is a modern four piece instrumental rock group launched in 2014 by Bob Spalding and Leon Taylor, members of the iconic instrumental surf rock band, The Ventures. Their desire is to preserve and advance the “Art of the Rock Instrumental” by performing the timeless hits of The Ventures and other groups from the 50’s and 60’s.  Members include Bob Spalding, Lead Guitar, Leon Taylor, Drums, Ian Spalding, Rhythm Guitar and Luke Griffin, Bass.

In 2008 Bob and Leon performed with The Ventures at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction where they were joined by the Paul Shaefer CBS Orchestra to perform "Hawaii Five-0, as well as their iconic instrumental classic "Walk-Don't Run."  Bob and Leon have now spent a number of years each performing internationally and recording with The Ventures.

The dedication of V2 to take instrumental rock music into a new era is an exciting aspect of this group.  Paying homage to the great music of The Ventures, George Tomsco and the Fireballs, Dick Dale, The Champs, Tornados and The Shadows.  Often referred to as "surf music" the V2 style will expand beyond as The Ventures did.

V2 will begin booking tours in the U.S. and beyond starting in 2015.  Packaged shows with other iconic bands of this genre are in the plans as well.

V2  is kicking off a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo on February 23rd to raise funds towards producing a debut album and to introduce itself to a worldwide fan base.  The album will feature a balanced mix of classic instrumentals as well as new compositions.  Featured guest artists on the album will include Eric Johnson (Out Of Limits, Pipeline), Adrian Belew (Telstar), and George Tomsco (Bulldog).  Tracking for the album will begin in May 2015 under the direction of Grammy-nominated producer, Chris “Frenchie” Smith.  Perk offerings at various levels will include: Limited vinyl release; V2 limited edition Couch guitar strap (created only for the campaign and for featured musical guests); concert tickets; signed and numbered color print; private guitar lesson with Bob Spalding. There will also be limited perks such as picking a classic instrumental for V2 to record for the crowdfunded edition on the album (limit 3) and an Executive Producer credit (limit 4).
