Mark Gibson is a singer/songwriter based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Even before he played his first note, the music was always there, trying to escape out of him. As a child, he would turn inanimate objects into instruments. Tennis rackets became electric guitars, couches transformed into grand pianos, and his desks in school metamorphosed into drum kits to the dismay of his teachers. His first guitar was a $25 Japanese model that he bought from a friend in high school. He instantly fell in love, and obsessively practiced the art. Singing soon followed, and in his late teens he started writing songs, and hit the open mic night circuit in Oklahoma City while attending the University of Central Oklahoma. After graduation, he moved to Austin, TX and formed the band meridianwest. He would spend the next 6 years honing his craft in a music scene exploding with talent. In 2009 he left meridianwest to pursue a solo career. In 2011, along with bassist/producer Ryan Magnani, he moved back to his hometown of Tulsa, OK to record his debut solo album “Beautifully Deconstructed”. The album will be released on November 9th, 2012. Throughout the process of recording, Gibson and Magnani built a fan base in Tulsa with a full schedule of impactful shows. Gibson gives his performances everything he has every night, and Tulsa is starting to take notice. He sings and plays with a passion that is infectious, causing audiences to leave feeling different than when they arrived. Magnani is the perfect musical compliment to the shows. He is a one-man rhythm section, simultaneously playing bass guitar and foot percussion. His love for music and performing are obvious when he is on stage. They have shared the stage with such acts as The Dave Matthews Band, The Daylights, Blue October, Alpha Rev, and Josh Kelly. Gibson’s music transcends genre. He mixes blues, folk, pop rock, and soul music to create a truly unique sound. Mark Gibson is available to be booked as both a duo with Ryan Magnani, or as a solo act.
